Eyes wide open: Our favorite exhibitions and museums this spring

Spring is here, and we go out! From the IIAB team, here are a few recommendations on exhibitions and museums in Copenhagen and beyond.

Frederik Næblerød: All walks of life

Arken

Christoffer says: “Frederik Næblerød's intense artworks inspire fresh ideas and provoke thought by merging spontaneity, absurdity, and humour in unexpected ways. His creative power and quirky approach to painting and sculpture invite visitors to explore new perspectives and think more deeply about the intersection of art and life, making the ARKEN exhibition a must-see for anyone eager to expand their artistic horizon.”

Pool

Arken

Katey says: “And while you're at Arken - the 'pool' is a great spot for kids to blow off steam jumping into a colourful universe of balls and light. We spent most of our day in there.”

Sinners

Dark Gallery CPH

Sarah says: “It is an immersive photography exhibition space. They just had an exhibition about mugshots where some were real, and others were generated by AI. You wouldn't know which were which until you scanned them with your phone! It really challenged different stereotypes of who looks like they'd commit what crime. 10/10!”

Hans-Peter Feldmann: 100 Jahre

Louisiana

Neele says: “The exhibition features 101 black-and-white portraits of individuals aged from eight weeks to 100 years, presenting a chronological journey through the human lifespan. What I really liked about it was how it provoked the viewer to reflect on time and transience. You could get a glimpse into people's lives and think about what they've already experienced, and what might still wait for them. It made me pause and think about my own being in time and age.”

29 days at

Thoravej 29

Seline says: “It's more of a festival, but 29 days at Thoravej 29 is really interesting. They host over 50 events in 29 days, opening space for the big questions that need to be asked to create positive change for people and society.”

Intensify Life

Copenhagen Contemporary

Eefje says: “CC is permanently exhibiting the immersive artwork of James Turrell, where you enter an incredible 'temple' of light and color that makes you forget what space feels like. Another cool current exhibition is the work of Marta Minujín, one of the most prominent Latin American pop and conceptual artists. Dive into a world of color, texture, and surprising experiences. I specifically recommended is to dive into her 'maze,' where you will wander and run into unexpected encounters...”
